Do-It-Yourself Bunny Garland

(complete with fluffy tails)

Image from Spoonful.com
These adorable bunny bottoms add a little whimsy to decorating for Easter!  Add a little hippity hop o your Easter celebration!

You will need cardboard or thick card stock, scrapbook paper/craft paper/card stock, scissors, hole punch, glue, cotton balls, and ribbon.

Using the cardboard or thick card stock, create a template.  A thick V with a rounded semi-circle will give you a nice "bunny butt" silhouette.

Trace the template onto your paper of choice, creating as many bunnies as you would like to use.  Cut bunnies ou and punch a hole at the top of each ear.

Arrange your bunnies and weave your ribbon through.  You can place the bunnies a sclose or as far apart as you'd like.  Try different arrangements before adding the ribbon.  Try little clusters of bunny friends!

Once the bunnies are strung, spread the garland out and glue a cotton ball at the middle of each bunny bottom.  Let dry before hanging.

Get the kids involved and make this a fun family project!

Coffee Can Hanging Planters

Image from Pinterest.com
This craft adds a touch of vintage charm to your hanging plants and will great hanging up outside.  Take some of the metal coffee cans and start drilling.  You're going to drill approx. 10 holes in the top two cans and approx. 7 holes in the bottom.  Each can will have three holes in the side, right under the top lip of the can.  Try to keep them as evenly spaced as possible.  For the top two cans, drill three  holes in the side, right above the bottom edge, but directly under the top holes.  For all three cans, drill approximately 4 small holes in the bottom for draining, just use your best judgement.  Go ahead and paint them.   You could go with fun, bright different shades, as shown here, or try different color combinations: ombre, neutrals, or tone on tone.  Cut small chain to desired lengths, just keeping them the same.  Secure the bottom link of three of the chains to the top holes of the top can.  Secure the top links to all three of these to one link or ring for hanging.  Then secure the next three chains to the bottom three holes of the first can and the top three holes of the second.  Repeat for the third can.  Add your favorite potting soil and flowers and hang it up!  Now you have  a great, homemade accent to your garden!

No More Procrastination,

Spring Cleaning Motivation

Warmer weather, gentler breezes, and sunny skies have us itching to be outside.  Soon, it'll be barbecues and picnics, running and playing outside, and soaking up the rays, but now is also a great time to spring clean too.  You know.  Spring Cleaning.  Where we try to wipe up 6 months of grime we've successfully ignored all winter.  Here a few ways to help you getting started and soon you'll be enjoying the brighter days, inside and outside.

1. Where to Start
There's so many types of people, its not really fair to say to always start in one specific place or with one specific task.  If you get energized with success, try starting in your favorite room.  You'll be more willing to clean it first and it will encourage you to continue to other spaces in your home.  If you're a procrastinator, or are dreading a particularly difficult or distasteful  task, tackle it first.  Get it over with!  The rest will seem like a spring breeze.

2. Open Up
Open up those windows while you work, maybe even through your whole house.  The fresh breeze will lift your spirits the cooler air will keep you energized longer.

3. Soft Surfaces
When we relax at home, we're frequently on soft surfaces.  The sofa and other furniture, bedding and pillows, and even carpet and rugs.  Give these a good fluffing, airing, and vacuuming.  Your relaxation will be more enjoyable and encourage you to keep it going.

 4. Party
Inviting people over is the age old method of forcing yourself to clean, so go ahead and plan to celebrate spring together!

Tips to Clean Laminate Flooring

Laminate is is a durable and long lasting choice in flooring.  With four bonded layers and melamine resin on both sides, it is resistant to wear, fading, stands, water, and most impacts.  However, like most things, regular cleaning will keep laminate flooring looking its best and here are some tips to help.

1. General Cleaning
Even scratch-resistant laminate can develop damage if dirt, hair, and debris build up.  Sweeping, vacuuming with a soft brush attachment, and mopping will help keep your floors clean from these hazards.

2. Hot Water
It doesn't have to be scalding, but go for as hot as you can stand to touch, when using to clean.  It will evaporate faster and will avoid streaking.

3. Vinegar Solution
Dried on dirt, or other stains, can be helped with a 1:16 solution of vinegar and water.  Just figure 1/4 cup vinegar for every 4 cups water.  Use a spray bottle of it over areas where dirt is particularly caked or darker stains appear.  Just do a little a time, wiping as you go, you don't want vinegar sitting too long on the laminate's protective coating.

4. Dry
Like hardwoods, you still want as little liquid possible sitting on floor for the least amount of time.  Dry your floors after cleaning with a soft towel or help air dry with your homes heating or air conditioning on.

5. Stains (Tips from WikiHow)
Blood = Window Cleaner
Spray a small amount on stain and wipe away immediately with a warm, mildly damp,
      cloth.
Chewing Gum = Plastic Knife
Scrape up gum using plastic, because metal may be too hard and cause scratches
Soda/Wine/Crayon/Ink = Damp Cloth
Just wipe using a clean cloth, and clean sections of cloth, until stain is cleared.  (For waxy
crayons, try a cloth dampened with mineral spirits.)
Polish (Nail or Shoe) = Acetone Nail Polish Remover
Lightly rub over stained area.  Wipe clean with a cloth dampened with water afterward.
Heel Marks and Scuffs = Pencil Eraser
Use a regular pencil eraser to rub over scuffs
Grease = Freeze Away
Freeze the grease with an ice pack, then scrape up with a plastic knife.
